I plan my lessons well.  It takes me one or maximum two times of meeting a student to find out their learning style and how to take advantage of that.  I enjoy the challenge of finding out how to simplify things that each student may struggle with and overcome those struggles step by step.  I elicit how to correct their errors rather than spend the whole time explaining.  When a student can understand the reason the error was made then they know how to correct in the future.  If they are simply told that's wrong and given the answer they will not know the reasons and cannot grow independently.  I also center around the students topics of interest.  When the student is relaxed and talking about their interests and passions they speak more, learn more and retain more.  I think students of all ages need lots of encouragement and to feel unthreatened.  It can be difficult speaking in a language foreign to you and you need to know that you sound normal when you think you are just focusing on words put together.  

I am told by many of my students that they appreciate my patience and that I understand how to make the language relevant to them personally.  I give very practical and fun tasks to do during the week related to what was learnt in the lesson and this has been very beneficial to them.

Throughout my teaching career, and it is my primary career, I have done several developmental courses on top of my BA Degree, TESOL Certificate IV and DELTA.  I attend every training both face to face and online that is available to me.
