What does it take to be a good teacher?
Being a good teacher also means being a student! I am also a language learner, so I understand how it can be difficult. However, within every failure is opportunity!
What teaching methods do you use?
It is hard to pick just one method, because it depends on the learner's needs! I often use principles from Cambridge's CELTA/DELTA, Understanding by Design, ADDIE, and Task Based Methods. The important thing is to find the best fit for the student that achieves results.
Do you follow certain standards for learners’ assessment? If so, what are the standards?
Much of my assessment standards come from Understanding by Design by McTighe and Wiggins. This emphasizes performance tasks that are as close to real life situations as possible. Because if you already did it in the classroom, you can do it outside as well!
How will you continue to grow professionally?
Professional development never ends! As a teacher, I am always learning how to best serve my students. Presently, my goal is to complement my IELTS certifications with TOEFL to better serve students who want to study abroad in the US/UK/etc.
